The first children’s area activity opens at 9am.

Organisers believe this year’s market will be the biggest the Horsham Show has ever had. 

This year will mark the 138th annual Horsham Agricultural Show and children will be well catered for.

The BJ’s Furniture and Bedding Kidzone will feature two yellow brick roads – one lined with scarecrows from the Wimmera Aquatrail Scarecrow competition and the other leading to McGennisken Hall where children will be entertained by The Mik Maks. 

The other road leads to cooking fun with Bubble Muffin and his helpers in the Len Hobbs Room. 

Baby Show Time and Miss Showgirl will also be in the McGennisken Hall.

Horsham Agricultural Society president Dalton Cross said there would also be a wetlands discovery area for children.

“Parents are encouraged to rug up their families and bring a spare pair of clothing after the children explore the wetlands, looking for frogs,” he said. 

“We are well prepared for any inclement weather and the majority of activities have been moved indoors.”

The Prickly Moses Mobile Brewery will feature in the Boutique Beer and Wine Garden at its new location, complete with outdoor wood heaters between the show office and Maydale Pavilion.

“We’ve got live music playing late in the afternoon followed by a fashion parade by Crossroads in the Maydale Pavilion,” Mr Cross said.

Around the Johnson Asahi Arena, regular features such as the beaut ute competition, historical vehicles from all eras including antique fire tankers and bikes from the Deadly Bike project will be on display.

In addition to the Cec Hopper and Sons Electrical Fireworks, there will be a laser light show from 8.30pm.

Mr Cross said high rainfall had set big exceptions for the biggest weed competition.
