Tucker will play for Peel Thunder as the side attempts to prevent Subiaco from winning its third straight flag.
“Everyone’s aim in football is to reach grand finals,” he said. “To do that at the WAFL level is great. It is great for Peel Thunder and the Freo Dockers.”
Peel have struggled for success in its 20 year history but since aligning with Fremantle in 2014 the side has become more competitive.
The arrangement means that all of Fremantle’s AFL players play for the one WAFL side, including Tucker who was recruited to the club at the end of 2015.
Tucker said it was special to create history with the club.
“Even up to this season the club had never won a final before,” he said “To make it to the grand final is one thing but we’d love to take it out.”
Tucker formerly played for the Horsham Saints and said it was exciting for the Saints to claim its back-to-back premiership this year. “It’s unreal,” he said.
“It was really good for the boys to get up. I wish I could have been there but I was playing in a final myself.”
Tucker played 12 games for Fremantle in his debut AFL season.
“I’ve really enjoyed it,” he said. “Obviously being a first year player comes with a lot of challenges but it was good to get some experience with the senior side.
“The 12 games enhanced my developments and I’ve also got to play some good WAFL football. I’m just looking to continue improving.”
