Former Horsham Demons player Jake Lloyd has enjoyed another successful season with the Sydney Swans and will play in his second grand final with the club on Saturday. The young midfielder has shown impressive form, playing in all but one of the Swans’ games.
Lloyd’s highest disposal rate was in round 21 when the Swans defeated St Kilda, with 35 disposals.
Llyod’s former Horsham Demon teammate Seb Ross had a successful season with the Saints this year.
Ross played 22 of 23 games, only missing out on the finals series by percentage to North Melbourne.
Ross stepped up in his 50th game when his side defeated Geelong by three points, going head-to-head with Patrick Dangerfield.
Melbourne Football Club players, brothers and former Edenhope-Apsley stalwarts Tom and Oscar McDonald both showed improvements this season.
Older brother Tom has been a valuable asset as a defender to the Demons this season - being named in the leadership group for the side as well as helping the Demons to secure its 10 wins.
Oscar’s season at the club was an improvement on his first and won him a NAB rising star nomination in round 21.
Fremantle duo Tanner Smith and Darcy Tucker had an up and down season.
Tucker proved himself as a future star for the side while Smith was delisted at the end of the 2016 season.
Tucker played in all four of the Dockers victories this year kicking three majors and four behinds.
Tucker had one of his best games of the season when his side defeated high riders Western Bulldogs in round 23 where he made 22 disposals, a career high.
Smith played in two games this season for the Dockers, scoring two majors with 18 disposals across the two games.
Warrack’s Kyle Cheney played his best AFL season to date with the Adelaide Crows.
Cheney played in all of the season’s 24 games helping the side finish fifth before being knocked out in the second week of finals.
The final player on the list is former Warrack Eagle Matt Rosa who made the move to the Gold Coast Suns at the start of the 2016 season.
Rosa started the season well with two wins and had his third win with the club in round 15 when the side took on St Kilda.
Rosa’s best games were played against the Swans when he had 33 disposals, one major, one behind and 17 kicks.
Former Ararat Rat and Essendon footballer Lauchlan Dalgleish played in the VFL grand final for the Footscray Bulldogs on Sunday.
