John Delahunty won the senior best and fairest award by finishing seven votes clear of the outgoing Clinton Young. Coach Jaye Macumber said Delahunty had a consistent year.
“Every time he was in a one-on-one contest during the season he would win it,” he said.
“I can’t remember him losing one all year.
“As our captain his leadership was important as well. I implored the side to get on his back late in the grand final and he just about got us there.
“When the call to arms was made he would always respond.”
Macumber said it was good to have Young at the club this season.
“It’s not only the way he goes about his footy but the way he kept getting up on the field every week,” he said.
“His guidance of the young players was great, and then when he would get the ball in his hand we knew he’d use it well.”
The hard working Warrack Stone finished third.
Stevie Bibby took out A Grade’s top award to cap off an impressive season.
Coach Vikki Burke said Bibby was a brilliant player.
“Her ability to create turnovers and her high rate of interception make her a great asset,” she said.
“Even driving the ball out of defence with her work rate.”
Bibby’s defensive partner Paula Wiedermann was runner-up.
“That stats show that we were the strongest defensive side all year so it was good for the two of them to finish up there,” Burke said.
“Paula’s just got experience and strength. As out captain she’s a great leader, very talkative and her physicality is a great asset.”
Goal shooter Kirby Knight and centre Spencer Smith finished equal third.
