A spokesman for the Bureau of Meteorlogy said the most of the intense weather had already passed Victoria.
“The main rainband is over eastern Victorian at the moment,” he said.
“There is an intense low just hitting the South Australian coast this morning, which will migrate into western Victoria today.
“Only the elevated areas like Mt William (44mm) in the Grampians and Lancefield (26mm) got significant rain in western and central Victoria.”
The BOM website has cancelled a severe weather warning for central, south west and Wimmera districts.
Damaging winds are expected to hit elevated and alpine areas while heavy rain may cause flash flooding in the north east, north central and northern country districts.
