Across Victoria more than a million seniors aged 60 years or older will celebrate and be celebrated in the 34th Victorian Seniors Week, which will launch on Sunday.
Hindmarsh Mayor Debra Nelson said the week was an important way to recognise the shire’s older generation.
Athol Guy will perform in Nhill for Senior’s Week on October 19.
“Hindmarsh Shire Council is pleased to be supporting the festival, as it recognises the valuable contribution seniors make to our community,” Cr Nelson said.
“The 2016 Seniors Country Concert is a great opportunity for people to get out and about, meet new people and have fun.
“Seniors across the four towns within the shire have the opportunity to share in this event along with all other events across Victoria.”
Horsham Rural City Council starts the week celebration with water workouts at Horsham Aquatic Centre on Monday, before hosting china painting, history snap shots and cryptic crosswords with the University of the Third Age at the old railway station in Horsham.
On Tuesday, a mystery bus trip will take registered seniors on a great adventure.
An old time dance at the Hamilton Lamb Hall on Wednesday will allow seniors to reminisce and watch the Wimmera Rockers Danceworld.
Thursday allows Horsham seniors to share a movie and lunch at a screening of The Hunter for the Wilderpeople.
Horsham Art Gallery will host a free exhibition on Thursday with the Horsham Seniors Citizen Club hosting indoor bowls and cards every day.
James Blundell will host a country concert series at Kaniva on Thursday and in Horsham on Wednesday.
Australian Hearing are using Seniors Week to host free hearing test at Stawell’s Entertainment Centre on Tuesday and Kaniva Shire Hall on Thursday.
