Secretary Wilma Grosser said this year’s show had an emergency service theme to pay tribute to the men and women who serve the community.

“People can expect to see a lot of activities at the show,” she said.

“We’ve got sheering going on from 9am to 3.30pm on and off.

“Victoria's Emergency Management Commissioner Craig Lapsley is officially opening the show at 2pm.” Miss Grosser said the grand parade would feature fire trucks and State Emergency Service vehicles.

The traditional vintage tractors and cars would also return, courtesy of the vintage machinery club.

She said tiny tots, show girl and show boy judging would follow the opening.

Horse events at the Nhill Show will be going ahead, despite the recent wet weather causing cancellations at other events. 

Ms Grosser said the committee was hoping to see 1000 people come through the gates on Thursday. 

“It’s going to be 17 degrees – a sunny day so it should be great,” she said.

“We have the animal nursery back again. It’s always a popular area.

“The home industries pavilion will be great to see with all the exhibits.

“We even have stunt motorbikes coming to entertain the crowd, with Anita Ree performing as the evening entertainment.” 

Miss Grosser said the entire day would end with a bang as fireworks rained over Nhill.
