Edenhope’s Lake Wallace will receive 4000 rainbow and 1000 brown trout, while Ararat’s Greenhill Lake will receive 4000 rainbow and 2000 brown trout yearlings.

Member for Lowan Emma Kaley called for the urgent restocking of lakes in the Wimmera late last week.

Executive director of Fisheries Victoria Travis Dowling said several iconic lakes had filled and others were on a watch-list to be stocked pending further rain in October. He said the watch list of waters that could be stocked if levels continued to improve included Natimuk Lake.

“Additional stocking of Lake Toolondo occurred last week, with the release of 5000 rainbows and 2000 browns, with more brown trout fingerlings to be stocked before December,” he said.
