Cr Robin Barber, who is stepping down from Horsham council after his term expires, gave notice for his motion to be debated during Monday’s meeting.
His motion was passed unanimously on Monday evening’s Horsham council meeting.
"That Council write to the ABC TV and Radio and ask them to include Horsham’s temperature when they read out a short news grab about temperatures in Victoria,” Cr Barber’s notice stated.
“Western Victoria is not included in any of the centres mentioned in this very quick news grab and I believe we should get a mention".
Cr Barber said his ABC weather motion might not be of interest to many people but it has annoyed him as a long-term ABC viewer and listener.
Cr Tony Phelan said he supported the motion and that ABC Sunday TV news bulletin didn’t have a map.
Cr Sue Exell said she supported it and Mayor Heather Phillips says she did as well.
“Horsham should be put on the map. I suspect it will take more than a few letters,” Cr Phillips said.
Cr Barber’s notice did not state which of the ABC services he was referring to in his motion.
Horsham has access to weather reports on the ABC via Local Western Victoria, Radio National, 774, NewsRadio and Triple J on analogue radio, and ABC News Melbourne and ABC News 24 on TV.
