O’Beirne, 19, entered the Run Ballarat talent quest, which was a competition to be the support act for Cyrus Villanueva, an X Factor winner, at Run Ballarat on Sunday.
O’Beirne said the talent quest was an online competition.
She said she had to upload a video of herself performing on Facebook and people could vote for a winner.
“I entered because I thought it would be a great experience – I didn’t think I would win,” she said.
O’Beirne played a cover of Brother by Matt Corby in her video.
She won by more than 70 votes ahead of a Ballarat band.
“It was good fun and I was extremely excited to win,” she said.
“I am beyond happy and it’s thanks to all the people who voted for me.”
O’Beirne will now perform at Run Ballarat on Sunday from 10am.
O’Beirne is studying nursing in Ballarat.
Horsham events manager Andrea Cross, from Across Events Management, has been promoting O’Beirne’s talent throughout the Wimmera since 2013.
She said O’Beirne was naturally gifted musician and singer who had never had any formal training.
“Kailee’s preferred genre is Indie and alternative covers which suits her organic style,” she said.
