WIMMERA students and musicians took to the stage on Wednesday for the annual school showcase at Horsham’s Wesley Performing Arts Centre.
The Horsham Academy of Music event raises money for students at the School of St Jude’s in Tanzania.
Students came from schools in Horsham, Goroke, Natimuk, Murtoa and Stawell.
Organiser Lea Crammond said it was a lovely, entertaining morning.
“The children always enjoy it and they get such a buzz out of being on stage,” she said.
“The schools went to a lot of effort with their performances and costumes.”
The concert featured singing, dancing, dramatisations and instrumental pieces.
Mrs Crammond said the event raised about $1200, but she expected more donations.
“We should reach about $3000, which is what we usually raise,” she said.
In the past nine years the event has raised about $23,000 for students, a teacher and a boarding house supervisor in Tanzania.
Mrs Crammond said it was important people were involved in the arts.
“It was beautiful to see the children on stage,” she said.
