In the men’s competition, Melbourne University side the University Blues will take on Adelaide Storm in a southern conference match-up.
The game will start at 5pm on Saturday.
Adelaide Storm is coming off a heavy defeat against the Victorian Volleyball Academy Vultures. The side lost the match 3-0.
The University Blues’ last contest was a strong 3-0 win against the Western Australia Hornets.
Adelaide Storm is currently sitting at the top of the table with eight points.
The side has won three games and lost one so far this season.
University Blues sit right behind the Storm with six points. The team has won three games and lost two.
The match is likely to be a defining clash for both sides, with the Storm having a game in hand on the Blues.
A player to look out for at the University Blues will be Nick Adamson.
Adamson is a product of the Victorian junior pathway program from the regional area and will come back to his home club to play in this game.
The women’s clash starts at 7pm when the University Blues take on the Storm.
Both teams come into the clash in vastly different form.
The Storm has mustered just one point from a possible 12 so far this season, while the Blues are sitting pretty atop the table with 12 points.
The Blues have only lost one set all season and look a formidable outfit.
The Blues are led by Australian captain Shae Sloane and will look to her for experience.
The university side also boasts three more Australian internationals in Hannah Martin, Jamie-Lee Morrow and Sophie Paine.
The Saturday volleyball program also begins this weekend when St Brigid’s College year 8 boys side takes on the Volleyball Academy boys in a curtain raiser at 3pm.
The St Brigid’s boys are preparing for the Greater Western Zone volleyball finals next Thursday.
Horsham Volleyball Academy coach David Berry said he was delighted Horsham had the chance to host the best players in the nation.
“The Volleyball Academy players will also get the chance to take part in a clinic run by the Blues coaches,” he said.
“We are really looking forward to it.”
