Round one will see six teams do battle in three one-day games on Saturday.
Two remaining teams will clash in another one-day game on Sunday.
Brim-Kellalac-Sheep Hills will go head-to-head against St Mary’s at Brim at 1pm.
Spectators will be eager to see Brim kick off its season after a strong 2015-16 campaign, which saw the side claim a grand final win against Donald.
Donald and Brim have clashed in the last two grand finals and competition to knock the league’s two leading sides from the top of the premiership tree is expected to be fierce.
Donald will look to hit back this season after a shattering grand final loss.
St Mary’s will have its work cut out in taking on Brim after a difficult 2015-16 season, finishing just outside of the top four and narrowly missing out on a finals spot.
The side has everything to play for when it contests the game.
Jeffcott will attempt to match the pace and skill of Donald at 1pm at Jeffcott.
The game will be the most anticipated of the round, after both sides finished side by side on the ladder in 2015-16.
Jeffcott made it to last season’s semi-final before being knocked out by Donald in a 46-run loss.
In the third game of the day, Birchip will battle against Hopetoun at 1pm at Hopetoun.
Birchip struggled for wins in 2015-16, finishing in seventh position on the ladder with 42 points.
The side will need to step it up a notch this season to take on the likes of Hopetoun.
The Hopetoun side finished its 2015-16 season 12 points above Birchip in fourth position.
Hopetoun made it to the semi-final but was knocked out in a comprehensive defeat to Brim.
St Arnaud and Marnoo clash in the final game of round one on Sunday at 1pm at King George’s Park.
Spectators can expect a tight game after both teams finished equal on 30 points last season.
St Arnaud could be the dark horse of the competition after showing improvement in the late stages of last season.
The side had a rocky season in 2015-16 but did manage an impressive final win against Wycheproof-Narraport in round 14.
Marnoo will give its all to start off the season with a bang.
