POLICE impounded a South Australian man’s Nissan Patrol on Saturday night after he was caught speeding and drink driving north of Apsley.

Horsham Sergeant Julie Bergen said Horsham Highway Patrol members were 15 kilometres north of Apsley when then encountered the vehicle at about 6.15pm.
Police were travelling north on Apsley-Natimuk Road when they detected a Nissan Patrol travelling south at 144 kilometers per hour in a 100km/h zone.
The vehicle was pulled over and the driver, a 21-year-old South Australian man, returned positive during a preliminary breath test for alcohol and an evidentiary breath test reading of 0.126 blood alcohol level.
The seven seater vehicle that was carrying five men was impounded for 30 days.
“The driver returned a negative result for the drug test,” Sergeant Bergen said.
“The car contained five intoxicated males aged from 18 to 23.”
The driver will be summonsed to appear in Edenhope Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
