Kate Hawker participated in the World’s Greatest Shave, which raises money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Kate shaved her head last month at the Kaniva Show.
“I raised $4307 and my goal was $2000,” she said.
“I raised almost $2000 on the day, which was amazing – I was ecstatic that I raised so much.”
Nhill shearer Tristan Schilling and Kaniva’s Bronwyn Fiscilinin shaved Kate’s head.
“The shave was a mixture of excitement, pain, curiously, fear, but mostly excitement,” Kate said.
“I have adjusted pretty well to having no hair, but I am still not totally used to it.
“It's great not having to brush my hair in the morning and I'm actually starting to really like having short hair.”
Kate said she was amazed by the amount of support she received from the community.
“There were so many people who sponsored me – everyone was fantastic and wanted to help out,” she said.
