Horsham and District Racing Club has contributed $17,000 towards cup day, with Country Racing Victoria giving $8000, and a further $12,500 in donated services and products provided by club sponsors.
“We’re grateful for the ongoing support from the state government, which will allow us to stage another successful Horsham Cup meeting,” race club president Simon Gebert said.
“This is a great day for everyone with exciting racing, plenty of entertainment for the kids, live music and a hotly contested fashions on the field competition.”
The state government money is part of a $72,000 package announced by Racing Minister Martin Pakula.
“This year’s major draw card will be the ‘buy one, get one free’ ticket offer to the Texan Warney Marquee, which will provide free admission, a complimentary race book, and food and drinks,” he said.
“Other entertainment will include live music, a big screen, jumping castle, dance workshop, supervised sports for children and a Fashions on the Field competition.
“Last year’s cup meeting was a success, with almost 1300 racegoers attending to enjoy a great day out at the country races.”
