Hindmarsh Shire Council and Northern Grampians Shire Council said they would monitor the situation but had no current plans to complete spraying or eradication in the area.
The Department of Health and Human Services said mosquitoes in high numbers were expected this summer after flooding created their ideal breeding ground.

Many people sworn by Vicks Vapour rub as a repellent and to ease an itch, others favoured lavender oil while one even suggested rubbing the inside of a banana skin on the bite.
