Footballers from across the Wimmera started training for the 2017 under-16 and TAC Cup squads at Coughlin Park on Tuesday.
Players participated in a visual testing session on Tuesday before a skills session at Dudley Cornell Park on Thursday.
AFL Victoria talent manager Phil Partington said the Wimmera players would train in Horsham two nights a week.
“They will train for five weeks before Christmas and then have a break,” he said.
“They will then go through a selection process where all squads from across the region will be cut down.”
Training sessions will be at Coughlin Park on Tuesdays and Dudley Cornell Park on Thursdays.
“Two teams will be selected out of the boys, with some selected for the under-16 program and some selected for the TAC Cup,” Partington said.
“All of us at the North Ballarat Rebels are looking forward to seeing the boys in action and looking toward the season ahead.”
The sessions will be coached by former Horsham Saints coach Shayne Breuer.
