The Dimboola Movember team hopes to end the campaign with a fun run on Sunday.
Team member Colin Campbell said this was the sixth annual fun run, which would also include an auction and guest speakers.
“Last year we had about 80 people come along, so we are hoping for the same number this year,” he said.
“It’s a good cause and we’ve already raised about $700 or $800. We usually raise about $5000, which is what he are hoping for this year.”
The Movember initiative encourages men to grow facial hair throughout November and raise awareness of men's health issues, including prostate cancer and depression.
Mr Campbell said it was a cause he was passionate about.
“It’s all about raising awareness,” he said.
“There is other campaigns like the Biggest Morning Tea and Girls’ Night In, but this is one of the only events that focuses on men’s health.
“Plus I love having a mo.”
The fun run will be from 10.30am at the Dimboola Rowing Club.
The Dimboola team isn’t the only Wimmera group with new moustaches – Horsham’s Kannamaroo festival had a Movember competition on Friday night.
Organiser Emma Hynes said there were good quality entries and donations.
“It was the first year we’ve done something like this so I would like to see it grow in the future,” she said.
Miss Hynes thanked Maria Macchia and Josh Koenig for judging the competition.
