Horsham College year 7 student Kira-Ly Duplock, 13, of Laharum donated the money to the foundation after winning the event, which supports the construction of a cancer centre in Horsham.
“It is pleasing to see a young person understand the value of the cancer centre for Horsham and make such a substantial donation,” duck race co-ordinator Diana McDonald said.
Almost 1900 ducks took to the Wimmera River for this year’s race.
The event raised more than $7000 for the foundation and the cancer centre.
Melbourne’s Max Millar scored the second-placed duck while the Stasinowsky brothers from Haven received third prize.
The Natimuk Ski Club hosted water skiing demonstrations before and after the race.
A ‘name the baby ducklings’ competition was won by Jo-Mari Pretorius.
