The two Murtoa College volleyballers won the nomination following their silver medal winning form as part of the Victorian Gold team at the Australian junior volleyball championships.
The girls have each been playing volleyball for two years after getting started in the Murtoa College volleyball program.
The pair progressed through the Volleyball Horsham Academy Program before being named to take part in September’s Australian Championships in a side comprised of the best junior volleyballers in Western Victoria.
Wimmera Sports Assembly Chief Executive Officer and Volleyball Horsham President David Berry said both girls have embraced opportunities to get to the their level.
“They have both been junior MVP since they have started playing,” he said.
The pair were also part of the the Victoria Gold side that won the junior girls divisions in November’s annual Horsham Volleyball Tournament.
The girls capped off a particularity successful period by winning the junior B competition in Volleyball Horsham’s winter season with the Murtoa 7’s team.
The nominations continue a run of young up-and-coming sports stars nominated for the award.

The title of Wimmera Sports Star of the Year and a $1,000 Sports Star scholarship will be presented at a gala dinner in February 2017.
Previous winners include Darcy Tucker, Jannik Blair, Ken Bald, Alethea Sedgman and Mark O’Brien.
Nominations for the Horsham Sports and Community Club Sports Star of the Year Award close the last day of each month.
All nominees in the monthly award will be presented with certificates signed by the Minister for Sport and Recreation John Eren.
The monthly winner receives a free ticket to the annual presentation and a specially struck medallion from Wimmera Trophies and Gifts.
