Taskforce co-ordinator Sally Pymer said people who posted photos on social media relating to alcohol consumption often didn’t consider what message it might portray.
“Did you know your children and peers watch what you do and say even if they don’t say anything?” she said.
“How often have you posted on social media images related to alcohol consumption?
“It has become an unconscious competition to see who can come up with the best picture, image or quote in regards to alcohol.
“Would you be a little alarmed to think you could be negatively influencing your children or peers?”
Ms Pymer said the taskforce wanted people to be role models and support the one-month social media challenge.
“For the month of December we ask that people consider not posting anything alcohol related on social media,” she said.
“This includes photos of you or others with alcohol in the image along with any cartoons, slogans or the similar including alcohol.
“We are not asking you to abstain from drinking alcohol but just not post about it for the month of December.
“Who knows, you might find your profile to others change in a more positive direction.”
Ms Pymer said people could call her on 5362 1200 for more information.
