Bruce pulled on his uniform for the all important milestone, taking on the Mt Gambier Lakers in the Country Basketball League at the Horsham Basketball Stadium on Sunday.
It is clear that Bruce, who has been playing for the Hornets since he was just 16 years old, is right at home at the club.
“I love basketball and I love Horsham and playing for the Hornets,” he said.
“Basketball is my passion and I have been involved with it since I was five years old.
“I watched my older brother play, who has obviously been a good inspiration and then played with my younger brother for a few years which was awesome.”
Bruce said winning the premiership in 2009 was a real highlight of his career.
“Obviously winning the championship that year was a really good memory,” he said.
“We have been close a fair few times and are really looking forward to going one better this year.”
Bruce said it was even more special to play his 200th game alongside his teammate Tim Pickert.
The duo have played together for 10 years.
“It is really special with only Tim and myself playing 200 games for the club, its a great accomplishment that I’m really proud of,” he said.
“We have been mates on and off the court for years and I’ve probably played majority of those 200 games with him.
“We know each other and where each others strong sides are which helps us play.”
Pickert said Bruce was one of the best basketballers he has ever played with.
“It is massive. It’s a great accomplishment for himself and for the association to have a guy that’s loyal like Cam reach the 200 games. He is a very unselfish player and is all about the team.”
Pickert said he has high hopes for a second premiership win alongside Bruce this season.
