The future leaders of the school used the festive season as an opportunity too give back to the wider community.
The students started the initiative four weeks ago and student Seb Dalgleish said they had something bigger planned for next year.
“It would have been nice to know a monetary figure of what they were all worth together because there are a lot of $20 to $30 toys,” he said.
“It’s just great to give back to the community that you are in.”
Student Alex Goldsmith said this meant a lot to the group of students.
“It feels really good to be giving back to the community, even though it’s just a short little program we can still make a difference,” he said.
Seb said it was good to finally put practice into play.
“Normally the stuff we do at school is we learn to give to people oversees in third world countries but now we get to help the people in our community,” he said.
Alex said by giving to their own community, they were able to see the rewards.
“We are proud of the school and the community members that got behind this program and everyone who donated and supported us,” he said.
St Brigid’s College students have also been collecting money throughout the year in each home room.
The collection is part of a program called Change It Up with students dropping loose change into a jar with the money going to support a child oversees.
