Warracknabeal swimming club president Julianne Phelan said it was a great competition.
“We had 115 swimmers from around the district she said and it was a really great vibe,” she said.
“There was lots of swimmers and lots of personal bests set in the pool.”
The Horsham Sharks team won the day overall, but Warracknabeal was the strongest represented club.
“We had 39 competitors,” Phelan said.
“That is the most we’ve had at a swim meet for 15 years or so.
“We had lots of younger swimmer’s which is great, but the standouts for us would have been Luke Bone and Lily Eldridge.”
There was a total of 68 events contested on the day by junior swimmers as young as eight and all the way up to 18 years old.
“We have skills lessons each week for younger swimmers,” Phelan said.
“Once they’ve learnt the basics they can move onto competitive swimming.
“A lot more are doing that, which is great for the club.”
Swimmers will now get a break from the regularly scheduled meets until February.
The next District 12 meet will be at Donald on February 4 before St Arnaud and Ararat the following two Saturdays.
