CHRISTMAS is a time of friendship, joy and goodwill, but for many people in the Wimmera it can also be a time of sadness and loneliness. For more than 10 years, Horsham Uniting Church has provided a Christmas lunch for people who would otherwise be alone and are seeking the company of others on Christmas Day.

These people could be travellers passing through, individuals living alone, couples living alone with children living elsewhere or single parents without family support. The lunch is an opportunity to share a meal with others in a friendly, welcoming environment.
Church’s liaison officer Jenny Payne and community co-ordinator Mandy Kirsopp have again been working hard ahead of the lunch.
Last year, about 100 people gathered for a meal of roast potato, chicken, ham and turkey, followed by plum pudding, pavlova and fruit salad. Santa even dropped in.
People can support the lunch by volunteering or making a small donation to Horsham Uniting Church on 5382 4380.
