A delegation from the company visited Horsham Civic Centre on Friday
Horsham council Mayor Pam Clarke said Huilong Agrochemicals planned to start importing fertilizer into the Wimmera.
“They have already set up a Horsham office, which is their Australian headquarters, and they are investing in this area,” she said.
“They are planning to import fertilizer and chemicals for farms.”
The delegation including Anhui Province Department of Supply and Marketing Deputy Minister Jihua Cui and Huilong Agrochemicals managing director Haobing Li.
Cr Clarke presented a framed print of Mt Araplies to the delegation.
Cr Clarke said Huilong’s owner was a major company, the largest of its type in China with a staff of 3500 in their global office.
“They export from China to 70 countries around the world already,” she said.
“They have already got a distribution centre in Queensland and they are planning to set one up in Horsham.”
“We met to find out what they future plans were and to assure them that if they need any help that Horsham council wants to support them.”
Huilong’s website stated that its was registered in 2013 and was owned by two Australian individuals and its Chinese partners.
“The company is taking a priority to work directly with Australian farmers and try to reduce their annual farming cost by door-to-door delivering,” the website stated.
