Chief executive Wendy Sturgess said it was a successful appeal, with more than enough gifts and donations to go around.
“In a year when the area has been struggling with regional flooding, the success of the appeal was absolutely phenomenal,” she said.
“We are humbled by our community’s generosity and willingness to support each other.”
The Wimmera Uniting Care appeal attracted 491 gift donations, $1430 in gift cards and $6592.16 in cash donations. The previous year’s appeal collected 410 gifts, $360 in gift cards and $5123.60 in cash donations.
Ms Sturgess said this was the second year Target stores had offered an option for customers to add a $1 donation to their Christmas shopping.
“It made a huge difference,” Ms Sturgess said.
Ms Sturgess thanked all those involved in the appeal, including service providers, businesses and volunteers.
