Horsham branch is hosting Australia Day, on January 26 at 10am at the Horsham CWA hall. The guest speaker is Cobie McQueen, Priceline Pharmacy's pharmacist of the year, and the Horsham-based Priceline store was best in Victoria. The event is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend Cobie's address.
Horsham members will follow this with a barbecue at Bunnings on January 27, a way of supporting the CWA.

Dimboola branch members’ first event for the year is Australia Day and they will host a morning tea for the Hindmarsh Shire event at Dimboola.
It is with sadness that Dimboola remembers two members who died over the Christmas period - Doris Reichelt a week before and then Rosalie Lord on Boxing Day.
Both women were members for many years and willingly involved with all CWA activities. Rosalie was the Dimboola pianist as well as the choir leader for West Wimmera fun days for many years.
Both will be sadly missed, thank you all members who attended their farewell services in Dimboola.

Why do we celebrate Australia Day, January 26?
This year 2017, marks the 229th anniversary of unfurling the British flag (Union Jack) at Port Jackson by Captain Arthur Phillip, which followed 18 years after Captain James Cook landed at Botany Bay in 1770.
On January 21,1901 the Commonwealth of Australia was proclaimed and the first federal election was held, and in 1908 Canberra was chosen as the site for the federal capital.
The federal government moved from Melbourne to Canberra in 1927.
Today many residents are supportive, however people should not be complacent and "leave it to someone else". We should all help in whatever way we are able.
Happy Australia Day to all, enjoy the day.
