Members of the group have a lived experience of disability, care for a person with a disability or work in the disability sector.
The group has been going since 2006, with a couple of short breaks over that time.
Group facilitator and advocate, Trudy Joyce, said the time had come to seek new members to strengthen the group’s capacity to bring about positive change.
“We have a core group of dedicated, committed and talented people on board, but we would like to invite anyone else in Horsham or the surrounding district to come along and find out more,” Ms Joyce said.
The group also exists to inform the Grampians disAbility Advocacy Board about issues that affect people with a disability living in Horsham and the wider Wimmera region.
“Grampians Advocacy provides advocacy support from Bacchus Marsh to the South Australian border,” executive officer Deborah Verdon said.
“It’s very important that the board and management stays in touch with the things that matter to people living in Horsham and beyond.”
