John Bruce spotted the miraculous plant in Pynsent Street, Horsham on Friday.
“There is a tomato plant growing under a parking metre,” he said.
“It’s got a tomato the size of a golf ball.
“It’s six or eight inches off the ground but it’s growing virtually in concrete.”
Mr Bruce said he spotted the plant when pulling into a nearby coffee-shop and trying to pay for parking.
“I couldn't believe it,” he said.
“Tomatoes need plenty of water to grow and people would be walking past everyday – it’s quite amazing it has survived.”
