The community input is part of a branding review for the Ararat Performing Arts Centre and Ararat Regional Art Gallery.
It is part of the $6.2 million upgrade of the Ararat Town Hall.
The redevelopment project will establish a regionally significant arts destination, which offers major exhibitions and performances and attracts conferences and events to the region, at the town hall.
The large scale project to revamp the town hall prompted council to consider branding for the arts centre and regional gallery.
This process aims to ensure the town hall is best placed to develop audiences and increase visitation and engagement on re-opening in 2018.
Council chief executive Andrew Evans said there were all options for a new name would be considered.
“The point of the consultation is to see if there are any smart ideas that might make it better than what we have got,” he said.
“We have got what we call loosely our community heart, I think we have called it in the past our cultural precinct as well.
“We are looking at calling something else, but lets get the competition up and running and see what people come up with.”
Gravity Design led a review of town hall’s brands.
Council's website has a Have Your Say page, where community members can give feedback to help the brand review.
