It was the final meet before the interdistrict championships in Melbourne on Saturday.
It was the first time the club had hosted a meet in six years.
There was just over 300 swimmers at the meet.
Horsham Sharks Swimming Club president Deidre Harrington said the event was brilliant.
“It was cool conditions but the water was warm so it was great,” she said.
“Ararat won back the McKenzie Shield and the relays were really good.
“Especially the under-11 relay and the medley.”
The Ararat Swimming Club pooled swimmers against other participants with similar times, rather than age.
Swimmers still competed in their age group, but swam against competitors that were of a similar level.
Harrington said the results of all races were close.
“It was a great meet to have just before the interdistrict championships,” she said.
“I thought it was great they placed swimmers with others of similar skill level. It produced some good fields and made the day very competitive.
“Every race was a must watch.”
The meet ran for the whole of Saturday.
“The Horsham Sharks would like to thank Ararat for providing a great meet and we look forward to travelling down to the championships next weekend,” Harrington said.
“Everyone was great and supportive of each other.”
