The premiership-winning side will run a community camp in the Wimmera and will arrive in Horsham mid-afternoon on Monday.
Players and team coaching staff will get down to business immediately, visiting community groups across the region.
AFL Victoria development manager Jason Muldoon said the group of footballers would visit locations including Wimmera Base Hospital, Wimmera Uniting Care and Goolum Goolum.
“They will also be visiting kindergartens and schools,” he said.
Coaches and players will then run junior training sessions in multiple locations. Session locations include Horsham City Oval, and grounds at Dimboola, Natimuk, Quantong and Murtoa. “We are trying to spread them out to give every junior a chance to have a session with the Bulldogs,” Muldoon said.
“They will also have a civic reception with Horsham Rural City Council.”
Coaches Rohen Smith and Daniel Giansiracusa, along with players, will run a Greater Western Victoria Rebels training session as part of a coaching masterclass at Dudley Cornell Park on Monday at 5pm.
“Everyone will be miked up so that attendees can hear what they are saying and how they conduct a training session,” Muldoon said.
“There will be speakers spread out across the oval for everyone’s benefit.
“We urge coaches and players to come along.”
The session is open to the general public.
“The biggest session for the general public will be an open training session the players will be taking part in on Tuesday morning at the Horsham City Oval,” Muldoon said. “The premiership cup will be on display for people to get a photo with.”
The open training session will start at 8.30am and finish at 10am.
“We expect there to be a big crowd in attendance,” Muldoon said.
Muldoon said it was a great opportunity for the region. “This has created a bit of a buzz around the Wimmera,” he said.
“Seeing preseason is well underway, I think it is a great way to kick-start the 2017 season. We are very grateful for the opportunity.
“The premiers are donating their time to come to the Wimmera and visit schools and hospitals and take training sessions.”
