The Saints side chased down Arapiles score of 117 with a little over a over to spare.
For many in Brian Bird’s Saints side it was the first time they had played in some time.
“The concept is great,” he said.
“They can all still bat and still bowl, it’s just that they can not run and throw.
“The shortened boundaries works well to compensate for that though because you don’t need to run and throw as much.”
Batsmen are also required to retire once they reach 20 in the abridged Twenty20 format.
Two Arapiles players made it to that mark and one Saints player did as well.
Despite Arapiles having played the week before there was new players in its side as well.
“It was a good game,” Bird said.
“I think a lot of them enjoyed playing on turf as well because some of them would not have got that much of a chance to do so before.”
Bird said the competitive edge was still there among the players during the game before enjoying a sausage sizzle together afterwards.
“It was social after the game but they all still played the game the way it should be played,” he said.
“It was very enjoyable; everyone that played enjoyed themselves.”
