The Horsham Amateur Basketball Association referee was rewarded for his great refereeing skills.
McLoughlin was handed the opportunity to officiate the under-18 division one grand final at the Basketball Victoria Country State Championships between Echuca and Geelong at Shepparton on Sunday.
McLoughlin is originally from South Australia and moved to Horsham in 2016 for work.
He has been a regular Country Basketball League referee and has previously officiated at the Australian Junior Country Basketball Cup.
McLoughlin said it was important for all aspects of the association to have people representing Horsham.
“It allows those individuals to come back to their association with new, current knowledge that they can pass on to the association,” he said.
“I’ve always believed the standard of refereeing has a huge impact on the quality of basketball.”
