Wimmera Health Care Group announced on Wednesday that the orgaisation was successful in its Dry July application
Health care group acting chief executive Mark Knights said the money will be a great help towards making the cancer centre state of the art.
“The funds from the Dry July Grant will go towards iPads, individual televisions and a public address and music system,” Mr Knights said.
“We are thrilled to be able to add this money to the pool already raised by our generous community and government funding.”
Dry July’s aim is to raise funds to improve the wellbeing of people affected by cancer by encouraging people to raise money by abstaining from alcohol for a month.
“Being treated in a comfortable, modern environment with high tech equipment will go a long way in making a positive impact on our patients’ experience,” Mr Knights said.
“We’re extremely grateful to Dry July and applaud the positive work they are doing to help people affected by cancer.”
Wimmera Cancer Centre raised its minimum $1 million target for community contributions in August and plans to start construction in the middle of this year at the corner of Arnott and Robinson Street.
