Western Victoria MP Jaala Pulford said Grampians residents should register for Active April 2017.
More than 104,000 people of all fitness levels made a pledge to do 30 minutes of physical activity each day in April last year.
Of these registrations, 60 per cent were women.
This domination is tipped to continue with the record numbers of women expected to sign up this year.
There 747 people in Ararat signed up to Active April, including 463 women and girls and 284 men and boys in 2016.
It is also a landmark year for women’s sport with the inaugural AFL women’s league now underway.
Ms Pulford said research shows Victorian women are now starting to outperform men when it comes to keeping active.
