Work on the new Kaniva Community Hub started in October and the community is trying to raise $300,000 for the project.
The project includes a new building to replace the existing football clubrooms, along with a large function room, meeting room and commercial kitchen.
Mayor Bruce Meyer said about 30 people attended a tour of the building on Friday.
West Wimmera Shire Council officer gave an overview of the project and the steps that led to awarding the building contract to Kaniva business H and T Kuchel Builders.
They highlighted the significant economic boost to West Wimmera of awarding the project to a Kaniva contractor.
Builder Haydn Kuchel led the tour, explaining the construction process to the group.
Cr Meyer said the tour was an excellent way for the public to get a first-hand look at the project.
“It also helped them appreciate the sheer scale of the building,” he said.
“The community will have a great asset to use once construction is completed in the very near future.”
Cr Meyer said if anyone wanted to know more about the project, they could call the council office on 5392 7700.
