District 17 operations officer Neville Collins said the front-line pumper was a medium-sized truck that included new technology.
“It is better performing and the new equipment it has will create a better outlook for the brigade,” he said.
“It has forcible entry equipment, water and foam, and a monitor on top.”
Mr Collins said the truck was provided by the Country Fire Authority.
He said a lot of training went into getting volunteers ready to operate the pumper.
“There was an intensive training course that went for about a week,” he said.
Brigade’s Ray Carman said besides the pumper, the brigade also had a new smaller truck.
He said the truck was possible after fundraising.
“We were able to raise money through catering or equipment maintenance,” he said.
Mr Carman said both new vehicles involved a lot of training before they were put into service.
“We all had to be skilled up, so there has been a lot of volunteer hours put in to it,” he said.
“The new trucks will allow us to protect any business in Horsham.”
Brigade’s Mark Ampt said the new equipment was state-of-the art.
“It’s good to have community support in our fundraising efforts and it will be good to see the new trucks in action,” he said.
