Leave the silos alone
Clever "works of art" are a blight on the landscape akin to tattoos on someone's body - the "wow" factor is short-lived and then comes the boring and deteriorating consequences - please all concerned repudiate this "art" and leave our iconic edifices alone against the Wimmera sky.

The climate is changing
Well it’s a big “warm” welcome to Oliver Guthrie to the Climate Change Sceptics Society (Where’s the evidence, Mail Times March 24). He now joins the ranks of noted scientists such as Ron Fischer (President) and committee members David Waterhouse and Cyril Dymke. Instead of challenging GWM and other agencies, can you and your cohorts tell us why atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have almost doubled in the last 10 years, why glaciers are melting at an alarming rate, why global surface and sea temperatures are on the rise, and why Northern NSW in just 11 days has had 426mm of rain more than the 6 months July to December 2016, not to mention several other major catastrophic climatic events around the world? And don’t tell us it’s all happened before. You probably weren’t around.

Not a Marxist plot
Messers Guthrie and Fischer and those with a like minded bent, insist on demanding evidence on climate change, comforted in the knowledge that no matter what evidence was put forward they would dismiss it as just another "leftist Marxist plot to subvert and polute the anglo christian morals of the youth of Australia".
Simple logic tells you that if you are you are restricted to one room in a house with no other option but to stay in that room for your entire life, you eat sleep and defecate in that room, every decision you make affects the condition of that room for you and those who will inherit the room after you.
If you manage the conditions in which you live then the room will remain habitable for long after you have left, but if you exploit the room to pacify your own wants then the room will become uninhabitable very quickly.
This is not science but logic, science is proving this logic to be a reality, all science is saying is to stop defecating in our own nest to the detriment of our species future. The discussion about the reality of climate change is an irrelevance, the deniers will always be deniers even when temperatures are constantly mid 40's to 50's, or when Bass strait waters are wetting the arse of their trousers.
The government and opposition's febble commitment to renewable energy gives the deniers a foothold in the discussion, only a 100% commitment to take technology into the 21st century will finally lay to rest the antiquated flat earth rhetoric of the visionary challenged.

Common sense Cory
Last week, Australian senators voted on a motion for senators to receive no pay increases until a budget surplus is achieved.
It was moved by independent (ex-Liberal) Senator Cory Bernardi.
Sad to say, only 6 of our 75 senators voted for it.
The Coalition, Labor and the Greens senators all voted against.
Anyone moving a motion that’s rejected by all three of the above-mentioned parties is probably doing something right.
Senator Bernardi is a conscience politician.
We’ll be hearing a lot more from him.
Hopefully his movement will continue to propose common-sense policies which most people will happily support.
