Russian artist Julia Volchkova is at Rupanyup, ready to paint the town’s silos as part of the next stage of the trail.
She was accompanied by fellow artist Georgie Goodie who was looking for another project to do in town.
Rupanyup Primary School acting principal Julie Powell said Goodie approached the school asking if they wanted her to paint something.
“In the playground, we have a big wooden boat for the children to play on,” Ms Powell said.
“Behind it is a big blank, brick wall, so we asked Georgie to paint a mural on it.
“She started this week and she’s painting clouds and water.”
Ms Powell said the students were also helping with the mural.
“They are putting sea creatures on it,” she said.
“Georgie is taking them out in groups of three and letting them choose a sea creature.
“They can choose a fish or an octopus or a diver and Georgie helps them draw it.”
Ms Powell said the mural already looked fantastic.
“It’s amazing and it is an incredible opportunity for us to have Georgie paint something,” she said.
She said she would finish the mural next week.
