President John Naylor said everything was one signature away from being put firmly in place, with finalisation expected on Thursday afternoon.
“He’ll be a huge draw card,” Mr Naylor said.
“It will be great for the whole community and the outlying areas.
“We think it’ll draw a lot of people and a big crowd – well we’re taking a punt he will.”
The two-times Hot Maker of the Decade has 36 Golden Guitars, 34 number one chart songs and has sold more than two million albums across Australia.
His hits include The Spirit of The Anzacs, The Outback Club, Boys from The Bush, Hat Town, She’s My Ute and Australian Boy.
Mr Naylor said the event was excited to finalise the headline arrangement, with Mr Kernaghan hopefully joined by The Wolfe Brothers.
He said the music marathon would be a great event for residents and visitors.
“It’s just a relaxing family weekend to get people away from the hustle and bustle of life to relax by the lake,” he said.
“There’s a great atmosphere about it and we’re very passionate about it.”
Mr Naylor said there were many announcements for the 2018 event still to come.
