Although its the first time the event has visited Horsham will not be the first time experienced rider Blake ‘Bilko’ Williams will be coming to town to ride.
Williams grew up in Victoria and said he had often visited during his younger Motorcross racing days.
“I did quite a bit of racing at the Horsham motorcross track,” he said. “It’s been quite some time since I’ve been there to race though, it would probably be something like 2001. Since then I’ve only really driven through on my way to Adelaide.”
Sixteen years later Williams has changed from a 16-year-old kid who remembers getting into a few scrapes racing around the Dooen track. He now has more than 240 Nitro Circus shows under his belt having been with the show since its inception in 2010. Even after all that time he still gets excited watching.
“I’m still blown away watching these guys push the progression of freestyle motorcross on a regular basis,” he said. “It’s my job but we have an absolutely awesome time and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
The Horsham show comes about halfway through the Australian Regional Rampage tour meaning that everything has been looking polished.
Williams is particularly excited for the opportunity this tour has provided to visit places they do no only get to.
“Doing the cities around Australia is great but sometimes the country areas are bit more appreciative of what we do on the bikes,” he said.
“It is normally a lot more relaxed and I like the atmosphere we have at our regional shows.”
With plenty of good tickets still available Williams encourages everyone to take the opportunity to see the two and a half hour spectacle.
“It’s a well rounded show that has something for everyone,” he said. “There is obviously something there for the action sport fans but it also something for the family to see. There is plenty of big screens around so even if you miss something you can always catch the replays as well. Australian crowds are always the best so we’ll make sure we put on a good show.”
Tickets can be bought online TicketDirect. VIP entry from 2.45pm for a 3pm start. General admission gates open at 4pm before the show starts at 5pm.
