Wimmera runners doing their part at the 2017 Stawell Gift

ARDUOUS and telling tests had been taken by many familiar faces at the 2017 Stawell Gift. 

Here we will see how our very own runners have been going in the annual track meet. 

We start with the Stawell Gift Hall Of Fame Backmarkers’ Handicap 1600 metre final. 

First place was Stawell man Tom Walker who ran the track in four minutes and two seconds.

Ashley Cowen, also from Stawell, cam eleventh with four minutes and eight seconds. 

Zoe Nicholson dominated her competitors in the lead up to the 800 metre final winning her heat and had recorded the fastest time out of all heats.

Nicholson, from Ararat, won the final recording two minutes and one second.

In the Stawell Athletic Club Stawell Gift 120 metre heat Richard Brown of Balmoral managed a time of 13.458 seconds. 

Sarah Blizzard of Ararat blitzed the Women’s Gift heats winning hers in 14.039 seconds.
