Traditional and modern treatments explored

Members and friends of the Parkinson’s Peer Support Group met to hear Des Lardner speak both from the traditional and modern perspectives in the treatment of Parkinson’s.

PLANTING: The yellow tulip is the symbol of hope for Parkinson’s.

PLANTING: The yellow tulip is the symbol of hope for Parkinson’s.

Mr Lardner, of Des Lardner Organics, is an experienced consultant pharmacist and qualified herbalist.

Despite 46 years of experience in modern medicine and an international award in 1997 for his knowledge of modern medicine, it is surprising that he says modern medicines are overrated. In his own words, he is scathing of modern foods and believes 80 per cent of disease is due to modern foods, ignorance, smoking and lack of exercise. He believes the future of medicine is in better education.

Wimmera Parkinson’s Peer Support Group members took home yellow tulip bulbs to pot up for fundraising later this year, as the yellow tulip is the Parkinson’s symbol of hope and we hope to sell these when they come into bud later this year.
