Both the Dimboola and Warrack sides will look to have a bigger impact on finals come the end of the season but those thoughts will be far from the minds of their players heading into round one.
Dimboola coach Ant Toet said she is certainly looking forward to the game.
“We’ve been training since January and on the court since February,” she said.
“It is just good to get back playing.”
Warack Eagles coach Jane Richardson said her side is just as excited to be playing again.
“You can do as much training as you want but until you get on court against another team everything is unknown,” she said.
The depth in both sides has been boosted this season by strong numbers at training which should hold it in good stead throughout the season.
Jodie Hayes will add strength to Dimboola’s midcourt after coming across from Rupanyup while Nicole Polycarpou is a developing player in attack.
“Nicole will be playing 17 and under netball as well as seniors,” Toet said.
“She has already been working well with Billie Barber in attack.”
Richardson said her team is positioned well with only a couple players who will be unavailable.
“I’ll be looking for consistency across the four quarters,” she said.
“We want good strong attacking but we pride ourselves on our defensive pressure all the way down.”
Toet does not know what to expect from her round one opponents.
“You hear whispers about players that have come or gone but you do not know until you start,” she said.
“All we can do is go out there and play our best.
“We know Warrack will be strong.”
