Horsham Demons made it through 2016 without losing a game but are wary of the improving Horsham Saints ahead of round one.
Demons coach Pauline Butler is looking forward to seeing the work put in during pre-season pay off.
“I am excited to see how all of our combinations are looking and how good our match fitness is,” she said. “It also gives me the chance to see what we still need to be working on.”
It will also be a big game for Brittany Nitschke, who plays her first game against her old club.
“I expect she will be a bit nervous against her old club but keen to do well,” Butler said.
The Saints side will be hungry to get its campaign off on the right foot against one of the benchmark sides of the competition. The game provides it with a good opportunity to see how far it has come.
