St Arnaud v Wycheproof-Narraport
ST ARNAUD coach Jason De Graaf will once again task his team with trying to play a full four quarters when it travels to take on Wycheproof Narraport.
The young Saints are expected to play inconsistent football as they continues to develop but their coach has seen plenty of positive signs.
“We played two and a half quarters in round one and three good quarters in round two,” De Graaf said. “I am just looking for the boys to string four quarters together.”
“We need to try and do it every week but we certainly need to be doing it against one of the league’s top sides.”
He will ask his side to to simply attack every contest and to give it “a red hot crack.”
Wycheproof-Narraport have started the season in hot form and sit atop the ladder with an impressive percentage after two rounds.
The sides attacking capabilities have not gone unnoticed by De Graaf.
“We will probably have to play a bit more defensively this week,” he said.
“Conceding big scores has been a bit of a problem for St Arnaud in the past and it was something I identified early that we need to work on.
“We don’t have too much trouble scoring but sometimes the ball moves too easily out of our forward half because our young players don’t immediately switch from attack to defence.
“We can not let that happen when playing against someone dangerous like Corey Jones.”
Donald v Charlton
CHARLTON have won a match in the first two round and are anchored to the bottom of the table but Donald will not want to take the defending premiers lightly.
Coach Luke Bell said it will be a fairly standard week.
“We will have a few in and a few out again,” he said.
The side looked like it would go two from two until a final quarter fade out cost it against Wedderburn.
Bell will again back his young side into the contest in an effort to stay on the right side of the wins and losses ledger.
