The Mountain Men lost to Swifts in round two and have their sights set on a victory when they host Natimuk United in round three of the competition on Saturday.
The Rams had an optimistic start to the season, taking it to Jeparit-Rainbow in round two and winning comfortably against Rupanyup.
The Rams’ squad includes in-form forward in Nathan Koenig, who has managed 13 goals in two games.
It was a lacklustre performance by the Mountain Men against the Baggies last weekend.
Coach Todd Heynen said this weekend was a good chance for his side to bounce back on their home turf.
“Natimuk United are a bit unknown to everyone in the league, I think,” he said.
The Mountain Men trained on Monday in lieu of Anzac Day and focused on clean hands in congested situations.
“We got back into full ground movements on Thursday,” Heynen said.
Cody Richards will return to the side after recovering from an injury.
The Mountain Men will need to find a replacement for its full-back to help mark Koenig.
“Angus Martin and Tom Crawford have been playing some good football,” Heynen said. “We will be looking towards our young midfielders to take a step up. Riley Lenehan will play a big role this week.”
Heynen said his side was quietly confident, but not getting ahead of themselves, this week.
